The Cherry Blossom Festival in 2022 is scheduled for mid-March to early May. This is one of the largest nighttime cherry blossom events in Kyushu, lighting up 25,000 tsubos of land where about 2,000 cherry trees are in bloom. The night view of the majestic tri-fold mirror created by the cherry blossoms growing in clusters around the pond, together with the water lanterns decorating the surface of the water, and the contrast between the rows of cherry trees spreading out on the left side of the azalea valley and the majestic rock face of Mt.

Description
This garden was built as a villa for Nabeshima Shigeyoshi, the lord of Takeo. It was completed after three years of construction in 1845 during the Edo Period (1603-1867) when the Tokugawa Shogunate ruled Japan. Its shape is based on traditional Japanese gardens. By taking a stroll around the pond, visitors can enjoy the spectacular view of the cliffs of Mt. Mifune and seasonal flowers. The straw-roofed building on the shore of the pond was built as a villa for the lord to sleep in. In modern times, cherry blossoms and large numbers of azaleas have been planted by top-class gardeners, and the area has gained prominence as a scenic spot. Even today, many events are held here throughout the year to take advantage of the garden’s beautiful scenery. There is a cherry blossom festival in the spring, a digital art exhibition using the entire garden in the summer, illumination of the foliage in the fall, and snowy scenery in the winter. With the beautiful contrast of Mt. Mifune reflected in the pond, it is hard to believe that the shape of this garden was designed more than 150 years ago. It is highly valued for its history, and thanks to its landscape it has continued to develop even in modern times.
